About the Asian Art Museum
The Asian Art Museum houses one of the most comprehensive collections of Asian art globally, with over 18,000 artworks spanning 6,000 years. Located in a historic building reimagined in 2003, the museum offers visitors a deep dive into the rich tapestry of Asian cultures through its extensive exhibitions and programs.

FREE ADMISSION
When is admission free at Asian Art Museum?
the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco offers free general admission on the first Sunday of each month. On these days, visitors can explore the museum’s extensive collection without charge. Special exhibitions are available at a discounted rate of $10.
In addition to Free First Sundays, the museum participates in several programs that provide free or reduced admission:
Museums for All: Visitors with EBT or Medi-Cal cards and proof of San Francisco residency can receive complimentary general admission for up to four family members.
Discover & Go: California public library cardholders can access free passes through the Discover & Go program.
Blue Star Museums: Active-duty military personnel and up to five family members receive free admission through the Blue Star Museums program.
Caregivers: One complimentary guest pass is available for a caregiver or friend accompanying a visitor with special needs.
