About the Aquarium of the Bay
Located on San Francisco’s bustling waterfront at PIER 39, the Aquarium of the Bay is dedicated to the conservation of the marine life and habitats of the San Francisco Bay.
Home to over 24,000 marine animals, including sharks, rays, and otters, the aquarium offers immersive experiences such as walk-through tunnels and interactive exhibits. Through its educational programs and conservation initiatives, the Aquarium of the Bay aims to inspire visitors to protect the diverse ecosystems of the Bay Area.
FREE ADMISSION
When is admission free at Aquarium of the Bay?
The Aquarium of the Bay does not offer a general free admission day. However, there are several programs and discounts available to make visits more affordable:
Museums for All: Individuals receiving food assistance (SNAP benefits) can present their EBT card and a valid photo ID at the Aquarium’s admission desk to receive up to four tickets at $3 each per visit.
San Francisco Museums for All: San Francisco residents with CalFresh or Medi-Cal cards administered by SFHSA can enjoy discounted admission to the Aquarium of the Bay.
Locals Discount: Residents of the nine San Francisco Bay Area counties (Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, and Sonoma) are eligible for a 15% discount on admission. To receive this discount, present a valid ID with your address at the main entrance.
Public Transportation Discount: Visitors presenting a current, valid Bay Area public transportation pass or transfer can receive $2 off adult admission and $1 off child/senior admission. This offer cannot be combined with other discounts.
Free Admission for Young Children
Children aged 3 and under receive free general admission to the Aquarium.
